Well what causes me to drop a site, would be lack of time.

I think the best way to manage your site is to constantly advertise. Give something most site isn't willing or can't give, something which makes your website different from any other. Add more content every few days. I also suggest having a good CMS... This will save alot of time managing and adding content to your page.
