New solution to domain names?

Hi there!

I've been thinking some and made a conclusion. A lot of people trade with domains and most .com domains that is something to have is already taken. If you want to begin a online business you will have to pay alot to get a nice domain which fits your business.

Prizes are just going upwards. The longer they last and the more people who start using the internet the more they'll be worth. So at a certain point people won't afford any good domains and they'll end up with something like bestonlinecarinsurancesite.com, for a decent amount of money.

This must mean there will come a new solution to the "domaining problem". Maybe not very soon, but eventually.

I agree with that Kalle, I also thought of that before!

But that time is far away from where we are now! There are enough domains left and business are using their own TLD also now!

But when the business is running out of domains, there should be something else!! But that is a long time away from now!

There might just keep comming new extensions to the domains, like .net, .org etc etc. And just like in real world, all companies can't be at the same neighboorhood. In the beggining of US I bet most companies wanted to be in NY but eventually they had to move further out of town, and the prices of the grounds of Manhattan just rose and rose, at the same pace new companies came and the inhabitant number increased.

Might be the same thing with domains, .com domains will be like manhattan and .whatever will be the bad neighboorhoods, and the newer they are the bader they will be.

If that is the case, saving all the domains you've got and sell them in 30 years wouldn't be a bad deal, or why not 100 . Especially you, Nomar, who got a 3 letter .com domain, 9mb, which is awesome

yeah, the domain is short and 3 char .coms are already sold out for a long time, but I won't sell this one kalle

I agree, 3 letter domain are extremely usefull for almost every topic! Simple, easy to remember and it's perfect!

Yes its called branding a name. You spend minimal money on a domain name and then you market the name. Much cheaper than buying a generic or LLL.com.
