Post For Sale: DIGG - 300 Million $ USD

Quoting from Tech Crunch:

Quote:
It seems like every other month rumors of Digg either being acquired or being shopped come up. VentureBeat has word that Digg is getting serious about a sale and has hired Allen & Company to shop the site for $300 million.

Investment bank Allen & Company has been involved in a number of high profile acquisitions and mergers previously, including Seagram and Universal Studios, Hasbro and Galoob Toys, and Disney and Capital Cities/ABC. An interesting tidbit on the company: it apparently doesn’t like publicity to the point that it doesn’t even maintain a website.

The obvious question is will Digg sell with a $300 million valuation given that it has been on the market (quietly) for months with no interest to date?

If anybody has a spare $300 million and would like to buy Digg, Allen & Company’s contact details can be found here.
I agree with this post if we talk about popularity! Where did DIGG go wrong? They banned a lot of people and sites!

They manipulated stories with certain keywords in it! which is not done!

What do you think of this? Will they sell at 300 million??

I am not very sure, but with digg in your hands you could, with the right methods, make a pretty nice amount of money. And i maybe it would be something for the searchengines to pick up.

I never knew this! This a pretty sweet function for such a popular forum. It's at a constant rate that's insane!

Why would anyone want to buy digg? There is no money in owning digg, there is only money in getting on digg's front page.

Yeah.

If you imagine how much traffic they get then you can imagine that they are making a lot of money from advertising.

I would not be so sure about that. They probably have a CTR under .01%.

Buyers look at that sort of thing before purchasing a web 2.0 company. Same mentality in buying/selling stocks.

For Google stock to go up 10% it has to gain about $70 per share. For Dell stock to go up 10% it need only jump $2 per share.

I do not see digg selling for big bucks because the advertising on site sucks. Diggers do not click ads!

Not true. I think Google snookered MS into taking the deal with digg.
