Standard rate or hourly rate

When doing this type of work do you charge an actual hourly rate or a standard rate by the month. I would like to hear from all the webmasters out there.

Most people who do work online do it standard rate A.K.A. cost per project. This is because you cannot prove to your client that you have worked X hours and is more trustworthy and you will know exacly how much it costs in the end. I personally wouldn't hire this person I don't know for an hourly work.

I prefer costs per project! Before you start you can calculate how much work it is etc.

No surprises when the work is finished

I start out usually as cost per project but it has its limits- anything after its complete that is billable- i charge an hourly rate after that.

Try that, it works out well.

Most people work it out as cost per project. I do this as well it's alot easier, and a lot less hassle.

Sometimes it works out in your favor and sometimes it doesn't but its overall less stressful.

Hourly rate could cause major problems, too many people think stuff is done magically. So unless you have a pre-set amount of hours there to pay for then I wouldn't do it.

It depends completely . If you're building a site then standard rate, but if I'm going to be doing support or writing an article I'll charge hourly .

Thanks
