How important is alexa ranking? I see 9mb.com got one of 79,000 now.. is that good?

It is not really important, but a nice indicator of popularity, visits maybe!

Alexa is not accurate. I guess its for the stat addicted webmasters

People still look at it for some things. Its unfair though. Some niches people are more likely to have the tool bar installed, like people in the web business. But for sites like my guitar hero website get screwed becuase my auidience is less likely to have the toolbar installed. I think breaking the top 100,000 is a pretty good goal. ive only done it with one site.

Yes, I just recently installed it. It's a shame that firefox doesn't install it and hide the tool bar as default. That would surely help. Although most people still user internet explorer sadly.

I agree with you, web minded people are more likely to have the alexa toolbar installed!

Sites about niches that has nothing to do with webmasters or tech savvy people do have bad alexa'

If firefox would install it as default in the firefox setup, it would be much more accurate!

They would have to team up with firefox to do that but I have it installed on my firefox and I sometimes look at it

Would be awesome if FireFox would install it by default, but it would mean people would have to agree that firefox sends data about the sites they visit to alexa, and some people might not want to do that, and it would make the installation process longer, which mozilla might not want. Because I think installing it in the background without noone knowing would be against some kind of law.

But otherwise, it would be gold if they could do this with both FireFox and IE. Counting with small numbers, after like one year (when most ppl updated their software etc.) alexa would recieve stats from about 70% of the internet users, which would be much much much more accurate than it is today.
