Pay Per Play
NetAudioAds has come out with a new ad publishing idea called Pay Per Play. Basically, you get money for every page load on your site because a 5 second audo ad plays.
What do you think? Would it turn some users away, or would they endure it? Even if it turned users away, would it still be profitable? Discuss. |

in my opinion this kind of advertising is doomed from the very beggining because not all the people surf the internet with their speakers turned on. i know, cause i always have my speakers shut down, and there are a lot of ppl like me.
and one more thing, how can you count how many times the audio ad was listened? |

It will definitely turn viewers away from your site. There is also potential to make money with it though. I don't think it's the best way too make money through your site though.

This one I have actually looked at too, in fact I might even sell the ads themselves for a little money. I get every ones point, but this is why I think they might make it.
The ad only plays one time when you go to a site, and there won't be another one for 3 minutes, and that's only if you go to another page, so it cuts down on the annoyance figure, and the 5 seconds is really bearable. I put it right up there adsense blocks on a page. Its better than flashing fairies, and doesn't try to sneak up on you like a text link. It can be played to a local area at a specific time, so you can target your town at 1:30 to try to get customers in on a slow afternoon to your restaurant. The local factor is what makes it the best online advertising. That you don't have to try to sell even a click, and in 5 seconds its gone, your visitors do not have to browse around it, and you don't have to rotate anything. I get that no one likes an ad, but people want paid. This is a good trade off for local businesses and Internet users. Last edited by webhustler; 02-26-2008 at 10:45 PM. |

PayPerPlay - Not worth losing traffic
Payperplay is annoying, and people will click out of your blog just to make the sound stop. I do not see payperplay as a good form of income.
