Apache or lighttpd

I`ve some experience with hosting, setting up server side software , scripts so on.

I`ve been searching for light weight web server for a very long time and finally found the best i think. It is lighttpd and extremely low on resources also blazing fast. I`ve also implemented xcache with php5 + mysql 5.

Only bad thing is alias not working if i can fix this that will be really awesome.

To look at my lighttpd server just go to http://72.36.142.125/ and my mambo test setup on same server http://www.monitorings.us

I really did not know fast-cgi could be fast as this. Recommended

Note that it is actually centos not fedora

Yes it is almost like 7 or 8 times faster than apache. To make it clear i use it on a 128mb ram vps and it is still blazing fast. Also compatible with plesk,cpanel,ensim and much more.

I never really heard of these things, mostly has I like apache and I wouldn't mess with other things even if it's a little faster,

well apache is the standard so all hosting companies use it. but if its your server dedi or VPS, you can install something different if you want to.

Havent you read the http://trac.lighttpd.net/trac/wiki/PoweredByLighttpd even very big companies use this instead of apache.

well there must be a reason why its faster, maybe less to go through less complex. Can you do everything with lighttpd?
